Hi there!

I’d like to “introduce” you to Camps.ca—and myself. I’m the architect (for better or worse) of much of Our Kids Media’s camp content, as well as the ongoing manager of camp content additions. When I first started here, one of the first tasks I was given was to build Camps.ca. It was launched in January 2009 with about 100 pages of content, optimized for search engines.

We’ve always only mentioned Camps.ca in passing, even though it remains an important part of how we market camps. Your camp or program profile appears on both OurKids.net and Camps.ca. And families often see both sites in Google results, with Camps.ca frequently in the number one position thanks to its peerless domain name. It recently passed three million site visits, in its 13 years of existence.

This year, the two-sites strategy we’ve followed all those years has reaped further success. Camps.ca received a boost from Google's November 2021 algorithm updates affecting local results and keyword-relevant domain names. For the first time, Camps.ca has received more than 300,000 visits through the first seven months of the year. It continues to dominate searches, with over 4,000 search phrases in the top three in average position in Google, including everything from ‘alberta overnight camps’ to ‘toronto soccer camps’ to ‘swimming day camp.’ (See the full list here.) This means if a family is searching for summer camp or year-round program options, there’s now a greater chance they’ll land on Camps.ca.

In recent months, we’ve re-focused on content development for Camps.ca, adding more than 70 pages of content on camp and program types and locations. On top of content additions in recent years, it now has over 300 pages focused on locations and types of camps. Expect to see more of Camps.ca in search results and in the list of referring sites in your Google Analytics.

What does this mean?

This means more sign-ups for your camp or program, as this trusted domain name introduces more families to your brand and more campers consider your programs. While OurKids.net remains a powerhouse in creating interest in your camp or program, Camps.ca is as steadfast a presence. We’ll continue to develop both platforms, giving you an edge to attract and influence families to register for your camp.
