This week, 140,000 copies of the annual Comfort Life Retirement Living Guide were distributed through Canada’s major newspapers, reaching 300,000 readers nationwide. The 20th annual edition focuses on questions prospects have as they research communities and care. This approach was inspired by interviews we conducted with families and seniors earlier this year. It also speaks to a post-pandemic world, where trust is big and people want the straight truth.
Here’s a brief overview of some of the questions raised and the responses we gave:
- “How do I know when I should move?” was answered by placement consultants and social workers. They discussed the importance of understanding parents’ needs, how to converse gently about senior care, and tipping points families need to be mindful of.
- “What are my lifestyle options?” surveys the spectrum of community and care options, from active lifestyle communities through long-term care. Explanations are enriched by anecdotes from member communities, showing how they’ve answered people’s needs.
- Questions about how people’s diet, fitness, and personal well-being improve in retirement homes were answered with personal stories shared by seniors and families.
- “Who will I live with?” offers stories of the many positive peers seniors are surrounded by and continue to grow alongside.
- “What should I look for as I tour?” is 138 points in our relaunched “Ultimate Retirement Tour Checklist.”
- “How will I afford it?” offers information on resources available to people, and questions they should ask communities to avoid any financial surprises.
We believe in meeting people where they are and giving them the best possible answers. The magazine was distributed through The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Vancouver Sun, and The Calgary Herald. Our 20th anniversary guide is an important step forward in how Canadians research retirement living. Be proud to be a part of it.
